Overview & Objectives -
Paper mills have done a superb job of applying
innovative thinking to launch new and exciting
products of late. So many of these products are technically
challenging to work with and require special
handling and expertise. At LPI we have gained a
broad base of knowledge and successes with unusual
substrates and indeed seek out these products to
feed our creative instincts.
A design firm had selected an elegant sheet called
Touché Cover in black to build a unique brand
identity for their client. Their challenge was in
trying to create graphic impact with inks that
simply became flat and muted once hitting the paper.
Our objective was
to build off of the stand out qualities of the paper
and produce a unique one-of-a-kind product that
would capture and sustain the interest in this
unique product.
The Achievement -
Systematic
testing of various foils and application techniques
created the LPI recipe for success.
One full inside panel
of metallic bronze foil with black and bronze foil
for all copy elements and a distinctive large black
foil element on the outside cover with bronze foil
type brought the sheets to life. Attentive die
cutting and meticulous hand assembly with metallic
bronze elastic cords completed the package.
Once again, testing
and a controlled approach brought a vision to
reality, exceeding expectations and creating an
award winning piece. Success with this project has
led to several other assignments using the same or
similar products. Please see our other Case Studies
for details.
